This Annapurna foothills-based trek – with the final destination being the Poon Hill’s awe-filled perspective – is said to offer some of the most memorable journeys through Nepal. This journey offers a background of multi-perspective mountain sceneries all winding through quaint villages with the Gurungs (rumored descendants of the historical pre-Mongol, or Hun people of Central Asia), lush, bird-filled forests and diverse-weathered valleys – all serving as the foreground to the lurking, epic peak of Machapuchhare (also known as ‘Fish Tail Peak’).
Day 20: Kathmandu - Pokhara by tour bus (approximate 6-hour drive), passing by beautiful landscapes as well as a variety of the rural villages of Nepal. Hotel check-in upon arrival in Pokhara.
Day 21: Pokhara - Birethanti - Ulleri: Drive to Birethanti (1140m) from Pokhara. Walk through the lush, green Modi river valley, past waterfalls with plunge pools that invite you to swim. Day 22: Pokhara - Tirkhe Dhunga OR Urlegri (approximately 6-hrs). Drive to Nayapul, passing through the beautiful village of Lumle where preparations will be made in anticipation of the trek to Birethanti. This particular leg of the journey snakes along the main trail to Sudami with a steady ascent along the side of the valley before concluding the day’s trek at Hile (1495m) with an overnight stay in Tirkhe Dhunga.
Day 23: Trek to Ghorepani (approximately 5-hrs). Tirkhe Dhunga – Ghorepani. Departing Tirkhe Dhunga, this day’s voyage traverses a stream before climbing a stone staircase to the far-stretching village of Magar at Ulleri (2070m). On the way to the day’s final destination, journey through lush forests, across sparkling streams before arriving at Nangethanti and Ghorepani (2850m) respectively for an overnight stay.
Day 24: Poon Hill and trek to Tadapani: An early morning ascent to Poon Hill (3195m) treats trekkers to an enlightening scene as the sun climbs the sky to peak out from behind the Himalayan titans of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Manalsu. Return to the lodge for breakfast before beginning your return-descent to Ghorepani, concluding the day’s events with an overnight stay at Tadapani.
